We are recruiting for new trustees:

Brum Unitarians is an expanding Unitarian congregation based in central Birmingham, offering Sunday services from a fundamentally humanist perspective and welcoming of people of diverse beliefs and non-belief, living by the motto that “we need not think alike, to love alike”. It is an inclusive congregation with an explicit welcome for LGBTQ+ people and a commitment to anti-racism. It is a registered charity run by volunteer trustees, with a part-time minister.

What we are looking for:

At a crucial time in our history and rapidly increasing community engagement, new trustees are needed to improve governance and navigate several challenges ahead, including (but not limited to) in connection with our building/land.

We are looking for new trustees who can realistically commit sufficient time to make a difference, and who have both the mindset and professional experience to successfully take the lead on an area of work/challenge. In return, you will be part of steering an organisation through a time of significant changes. As to specific skills and expertise, please see the list below which sets out areas of skills/expertise of particular interest. However, if you have other skills/expertise to offer, please don’t hesitate to apply.

Sympathy with the Unitarian ethos of freedom, reason, and tolerance is essential. A connection to Unitarian or other (e.g. Quaker, humanist, liberal religious) groups is an advantage, but not a necessity.

Expertise of particular interest:
Community engagement / community organisations.
Regeneration / compulsory purchase.
Safeguarding.
Fundraising.
Small charity governance.
HR experience, including recruitment.
People management.
Investing.

How to apply:
